Skin Care Basics
Be Gentle
It is important to take proper care of your skin if you are suffering from acne. A very common mistake that many people make is to start washing the skin with harsh or abrasive cleansers several times a day. This occurs for the following reasons:
By severely over-drying the skin, you are actually making your skin oilier because the body responds by producing more oil to combat the dryness. This results in increased sebum production, more blocked pores, and more eruptions leading to acne.
Constant washing of the skin may also alter the natural pH of the skin leading to more problems by making the skin look unhealthy, shiny, or dull in addition to the acne.
We highly recommend that you should not ever wash your skin more then twice a day. It is even better if you wash your face just once a day using a high quality cleanser (click here to learn more about Hydroviton .CR) and then wash your face a second time using only water without any soap or cleansers. This will help your skin normalize sebum production and rebalance its pH levels. If your face becomes oily during the day, we recommend that you just wash your face with water without using soap.
Only lukewarm or tepid water should be used during cleansing, never hot. Hot water also leads to increased sebum production. Gently pat your skin dry with a towel, never rub.
You can also use a facial scrub once or twice a week to help unclog the pores. We recommend the St. Ives® Apricot Scrub for use on acne-infected skin. It is important to rub your fingers in a gentle circular motion, never scrub harshly. Apply very little pressure when scrubbing. Do not use the scrub on your face more then twice a week.
Following these general guidelines and applying Trioxil (bisazulene gel) 14% once per day will give you visible results in just 2 weeks of treatment.
