Comaring Spectral DNC® to other treatments.

Several topical and oral drugs have been developed in recent years to treat hair loss. Minoxidil is the most well known and has been marketed under the brand name Rogaine® for over 15 years. Minoxidil is a clinically proven in the treatment hair loss. Several other compounds have been shown to be instrumental in the treatment of hair loss and some have also been shown to boost the effectiveness of Minoxidil. Some of the compounds are Retinol, Azelaic Acid, Copper Peptides, and various mineral compounds. Recently another clinically proven compound has been introduced by L’Oreal laboratories. Aminexil is the result of over a decade of research and it is the only other clinically proven molecule other then Minoxidil that has been show to re-grow hair.

Spectral DNC® is a topical medication that combines both Minoxidil and Aminexil SP94 with other compounds that have been shown effective at boosting the effectiveness of Minoxidil. Other drugs that are effective in the treatment of hair loss include oral medications such as Propecia® and Proscar®. Finasteride, the active ingredient in Propecia®, works to inhibit DHT (dihydrotestosterone) hormone levels in men. However, it is necessary to use Finasteride forever, if you discontinue use then the hair that grew under treatment will begin to fall out. It is very undesirable to take oral medication for such extended periods and this could also lead to potentially serious side effects. The most common Propecia side effects are a decreased sex drive, difficulty in achieving an erection and a reduction in the amount of semen. These side effects are reversible by discontinuing use of Propecia.

Because retinoids may cause fetal harm when administered to pregnant women, Spectral DNC® is contraindicated in women who are or may become pregnant. Women who can become pregnant must not use Spectral DNC®.
