Treat acne with Hydroviton.CR

The lesions, redness, pain, and embarrassment of acne afflict 90 percent of adolescents, especially males, plus females at any age during times of pregnancy or menopause.

Hydroviton.CR, the leading medicated cleanser, can perfect the skin, reduce acne outbreaks, clarify pores, and restore healthy color, because it employs nanosome-encapsulated azelaic acid to dissolve acneform lesions and Pueraria lobata to cool inflammation.

DS Laboratories has done extensive research on the histology of skin, the pathogenesis of acne, and the successful treatment of it. "Acne" describes an inflammation of the pilosebaceous follicle, primarily on the face, chest, and back, where the body has 400-900/cm2, as opposed to 100/cm2 elsewhere.

Each follicle is an epidermal infundibulum (cone-shaped opening), at the base of which grows a hair. Secreting into the follicle, a multi-lobed sebaceous gland coats the hair and surrounding skin with sebum, a protective mixture of glycerides, free fatty acids, wax, and squalene.

THREE CAUSES OF ACNE. Three major factors cause acne, 1) hyperseborrhea, 2) hyperkeratinization, and 3) the bodyÕs natural inflammatory response.

Hyperseborrhea, an abnormal level of sebum discharge, results mainly from an abnormal level of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) within sebaceous glands. The enzyme 5-alpha-reductase — aided by 3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase — converts free circulating testosterone into DHT. The centrality of these androgenic hormones explains why pubescent males suffer acne most severely.

Hyperkeratinization, the over-production of skin protein, combines with excess sebum to form comedones, acne lesions more commonly known as blackheads and whiteheads. They plug and distend the follicles.

Inflammation — a normal injury response marked by capillary dilatation, leukocytic infiltration, redness, heat, and pain — follows the formation of acne lesions, which rupture eventually and release the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermis, plus the yeast Malassezia, formerly called Pityrosporum.

Oral antibiotics can reduce inflammation, but they cannot solve the etiological agents of acne, which are hyperseborrhea and hyperkeratinization.

Various keratolytic compounds can inhibit the formation of acneform lesions and help evacuate the pores, but retinoids, salicylic acids, even alpha-hydroxylated acids sometimes cause irritation. To avoid discomfort, Hydroviton.CR incorporates kudzu root extract, shown in studies to convey anti-inflammatory properties.

AZELAIC ACID. Hydroviton.CR employs azelaic acid encapsulated in second-generation nanosomes to inhibit acneform lesions. This non-toxic 9-carbon dicarboxylic acid comes with neither teratogenic nor mutagenic activities, and has little or no potential for irritation, allergy, phototoxic reaction, or other side effects.

Azelaic acid opposes pathogenesis via three specific pathways: 1) keratolytic activity to dissolve comedones and clear the follicles, 2) reduction of sebum, and 3) inhibition of bacterial flora.

The compound also inhibits the activity of 5-alpha-reductase, the enzyme most closely associated with DHT synthesis. In clinical studies, a 1% concentration of azelaic acid inhibited the activity of 5-alpha-reductase from 35 to 46 percent.

NANOSOME ENCAPSULATION. To penetrate the epidermis effectively and release its active ingredients into cells over time, the azelaic acid in Hydroviton.CR comes encapsulated within proprietary nanosomes. These second-generation liposomal vesicles potentiate their active ingredients by penetrating skin deeper and releasing compounds slower.

Unlike the carriers in common creams and lotions, which merely sit on the surface and dissipate quickly, nanosomes protect and preserve the active chemicals within their eight to 12 stable, amphiphilic, phospholipid bilayers.

In-vivo testing demonstrates that chemicals injected without encapsulation clear the site in less than a day, while compounds wrapped in first-generation liposomes perform for up to seven days, and those in second-generation nanosomes — such as those in Hydroviton.CR — persist for over 14 days.

In-vitro testing shows that azelaic acid encapsulated in second-generation nanosomes also penetrates and transpires cutaneous tissue at twice the rate of the free substance.

KUDZU ROOT EXTRACT. To calm the redness, heat, and pain of acne inflammation, Hydroviton.CR incorporates Pueraria lobata (kudzu root extract). In-vitro studies of its anti-inflammatory properties show dramatically greater inhibition of phospholipase, compared to the six other treatments commonly used in cosmeceuticals.

This multifaceted attack against the hyperseborrhea, hyperkeratinization, and inflammation of acne means less greasiness and redness, fewer unsightly pimples, reduced pain, finer pores, and smoother skin for users.

The bottom line is that Hydroviton.CR perfects your skin every day so you can forget the embarrassment of acne.
